Move home folder to another partition

Notes

Install Gparted iso to USB stick in terminal! :0

Move to Gparted with the boot menu with 1 command!! :D

Use ls -l

Use sudo mkdir

U can see the new directory highlighted ⤴

Delete the lost & found folder

Move the files in ur current home to /mnt/new_home

Using ls -l again to see wtf is in there

tigergaj@bazzite:~$ ls -l /mnt/new_home/
total 8
drwxr-xr-x.  3 root root 4096 Aug 27 18:50 linuxbrew
drwx------. 35 root root 4096 Aug 27 18:50 tigergaj

Use chown to change the owner of the folders

Example

tigergaj@bazzite:~$ sudo chown -R tigergaj:tigergaj /mnt/new_home
[sudo] password for tigergaj:      
tigergaj@bazzite:~$

After

tigergaj@bazzite:~$ ls -l /mnt/new_home/
total 8
drwxr-xr-x.  3 tigergaj tigergaj 4096 Aug 27 18:50 linuxbrew
drwx------. 35 tigergaj tigergaj 4096 Aug 27 18:50 tigergaj

Add the Partition UUID to the fstab

Example

tigergaj@bazzite:/var/home/tigergaj$ sudo blkid /dev/nvme2n1p2
[sudo] password for tigergaj:
